USING MAGIC TO ATTRACT CUSTOMERS

Why use a magician?

There are several very good reasons to use a magician on your stand at a Trade Show or Exhibition.
On a base level, people tend to fall into the "love it" or "hate it" categories when it comes to magic tricks. Those that love magic will stop to see a trick regardless of what your copany is trying to sell. Thos e that hate magic will stop to try and catch out the magician. Either way - they stop! That is the biggest hurdle you have to overcome, getting people to stop at your stand in the first place. Placing that aside, here are some more good reasons for using a magician on your stand.

Don't lose potential clients because you are busy!

The first is simply on a practical level. You can only talk to one person at a time and so you might lose potential customers if you and your staff are occupied. Take a look at this picture and you will see that wile my client talks with a potential customer, I am engaging another potential customer until my client is free to talk to the next person.

Make potential customers more receptive to you

Another very good reason to use me is what I like to call the 'Feelgood Factor'. By engaging people with a magic trick, they are more relaxed and more receptive to an approach from my client. Attempts to 'press gang' people as they walk past your stand can have a very negative influence on potential customers. When I have amused and amazed them with a magic trick, they are much more likely to listen to what you have to say and even be prepared to suggest contacts for you if they do not need your products or services ditrectly. A classic example of this occured when I worked for London Translations at an exhibition. The stand was innundated with people wanting to see a magic trick. In fact, I often had to switch from small tricks to larger tricks involving several people as there were so many people around the stand. At the end of whatever trick I had performed, their staff would approach the people who were watching and ask if they were interested in language translation services. a very high percentage of people said that they weren't but there was somebody within theior organisation who was or they had a friend who would be. If those people had simply been stopped, they would have just said, "No Thanks" and walked on.

Make your give-aways more valuable and memorable

How many times have you been given a key-ring, memory stick or something like that at a show and simply put in in the bag with all the other bits you have collected as you walked around? I can make small objects more valuable to the recipient by putting them INSIDE a balloon dog! At one show I had a very long queue of people waiting for a balloon dog with a badge inside it which gave my client loads of time to explain to a lot of people exactly what he was trying to sell to them. Take a look at this picture ofd a balloon dog with a mobile telephone charm inside it and judge the result for yourself. There are size restrictions due to the special gizmo I use to put the objects in balloons so please talk to me first if you would like to do something along thses lines at an event.

Make sure you are remembered after the show

Perhaps the most persuasive reason for using a magician is that your company will be remembered long after the exhibition.  Don't take my word for this, here are the results of several exit surveys taken as people leave Trade Shows.

Use the power of Viral Marketing

I have several tricks that can be used as highly effective viral marketing. People will remember a magic trick more if they have a playing card, buiness card or something that was used in the trick. I recently met a man who showed me a playing card he had kept in his wallet for THREE YEARS since being shown a magic trick with this card he had signed! Proof indeed that whatever is given away will be kept and shown around while the trick is being described so they will be effectively showing an advertisemnet for your company to a massive audience for virtually no cost whatsoever! I know this to be a fact because I use these techniques to promote myself and I'm often getting calls from people who have heard about a trick I did.

Your staff can do magic tricks too!

If you feel that you only want your own company staff on the exhibition stand, you can still use magic tricks. I can teach them to perform some basic tricks but you must remember that I have been performing for over 35 years and that will naturally reflect in the presentation of any trick. This also applies to the balloon with object inside I mentioned above. I can source all the balloons and special gizmos for you and train your staff to make basic animals and to put your advertising material inside.
